Fitchburg High School Honors Academy Background
Established in 2013, the Honors Academy is a rigorous, four-year program within Fitchburg High School. This highly competitive academic program challenges students in an intellectually stimulating environment that emphasizes advanced college and career readiness.
Students develop the capacity to think critically using classical works, assess issues, and develop informed opinions. Students learn to acquire information, grasp it intellectually, and use it purposefully. They expand on their ability to speak and write on any subject matter in a persuasive, compelling, and imaginative manner.
A core curriculum assures competency across the broad spectrum of academic endeavors, developing skills in communication, quantification, analysis, historical antecedents, modern sciences, the arts, and physical well-being.
All instruction in the Honors Academy is delivered at the Pre-Advanced Placement (Pre-AP) or Advanced Placement (AP) level. Additionally, students may take college courses through our Dual-Enrollment Program with Fitchburg State University or Mount Wachusett Community College. Through our Honors Academy program, students have the opportunity to enroll in over 15 Advanced Placement and/or dual enrollment courses.
This rigorous program readies students for the finest undergraduate institutions. Furthermore, students gain competence in becoming lifelong learners and leaders in our rapidly changing society.
